Naples, on Florida's southwest Gulf coast, pairs quiet beaches with upscale shopping, museums, and easy access to the Everglades. It's a place to slow down, with enough to fill a long weekend or a full season.
The Gulfside city
Naples is known for its beaches and warm Gulf water, seafood restaurants, and boat trips where dolphins are a common sight. Many visitors who come for a winter getaway return year after year, and plenty eventually become residents.
Port Royal and Waterside Shops
Port Royal, near Old Naples, is the city's best-known waterfront neighborhood, with grand homes set among palm trees and mangrove-lined canals. It's worth a drive for anyone interested in architecture.
For shopping, Waterside Shops is an open-air center with luxury boutiques and restaurants set around water features.
Museums and nature
Naples offers more than beaches. The city's Holocaust museum preserves artifacts loaned or donated by local survivors and liberators, and the Revs Institute houses a collection of more than a hundred historically significant automobiles.
For nature, the Audubon Corkscrew Swamp Sanctuary has a 2.25-mile boardwalk through old-growth cypress, popular with bird-watchers. The Naples Botanical Garden is another highlight, with themed gardens and water lily ponds.
Flying privately to Naples
Many visitors fly commercially into Southwest Florida International (RSW) in Fort Myers. Private flights can land at Naples Municipal Airport (APF), which is close to downtown Naples, and ground transportation can be arranged to meet you at the aircraft.
Velox Jets is based at Naples Municipal Airport. From much of Florida and the Southeast, turboprops and light jets are common choices for the trip. Learn more about on-demand charter, or contact our Naples team.
